The Ks4Kids Walkathon & Run is a fundraising event for school chaplains who are working in our school communities to provide assistance, love and more positive options to our younger generation.

The chaplaincy supports programs like Rock & Water, Drumbeat and Radiance to encourage students build self-esteem, engage them in fun and meaningful activities, build resilience and re-enforce good choices. These programs are all proven experiences that provide young people and adults a pathway to self-awareness, and increased self-confidence and social functioning.

The chaplaincy also helps families in financial need, by offering help with their car insurance & registration, rent, vehicle repairs and helps put food on their table. In some cases, families get help to move/ relocate.

This year the event was on the 17th of June from 7am till 12pm and Timezone Gold Coast was one of the sponsors.

Hosted by Scripture Union Queensland, the Walkathon included a 2km, 5km, 10km, or 21.1km walk or run on the Gold Coast plus finish celebrations and prizes.

Participants of all ages, sizes and fitness levels were encouraged to enter and in doing so, help raise awareness and funds direct for all chaplaincy at Queensland’s schools.

Timezone Gold Coast was one of the sponsors for the event.

Soon, there was an enthusiastic crowd that filled the waiting area in anticipation of their walkathon. Member of parliament, Karen Andrews joined in the fun walk, in support of the program.

The routes used were open walkways, pathways and along the beachfront. All the walks started from and finished at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Timezone’s marquee was placed next to the jumping castle, providing entertainment for the congregating families waiting. Juan Uribe (Timezone Gold Coast’s General Manager) showed his air hockey skills in good fun with the kids present.

All the participants were given a Timezone flag and a Timezone showbag with brochures, toys and vouchers included.

Every 1st place winner for the boys and girls category for the 10km, 5km and 2km race were awarded a Timezone 3 hours Fun Pack, likewise the second place winners got 2 hours Timezone Fun Pack.

The Walkathon was an opportunity to have some fun, get some exercise and fresh air and bring awareness to a good cause.
